Today, the world is changed. History becomes legend, legend becomes myth. Myths fade away or are changed as they are passed down from generation to generation.

Many places in the world are beautiful and wild, with creatures never seen before, but there are many of the past that will never be seen again. The same can be said for the people. Many civilizations and groups of people were destroyed in the War of long ago. So much time has passed that it is only a story to most people that live in the world of Elcriss. Though these ancient civilizations are lost, the races themselves survived. Now there are new civilizations and new stories being told, and as time goes by history has a way of repeating itself.

The Children slumber. In their dreams they speak with the people of the world. The Dragons guard the wild places of the world and shape the environments around them to their liking, but they spend more and more time sleeping and have less contact with people than in ages past.

There is hardship, strife, and danger in the world, but also much beauty and times of great joy.

Sometimes there is fighting between groups of people, but in many instances there are friendships among the races, and trade and travel throughout the realms is possible through great Magick and technology. These are not as grand as had been achieved during the pinnacles of civilizations in ages past, but they are on the right track – and as time goes by civilizations and technology continue to grow.

Still, there are whispers of evil things that roam the world, and tales told to frighten children about terrible creatures and walking nightmares that stalk in the vast wild places in the world.

Once in a great while, though, flying through the sky can be seen a shining force that brings gladness and comfort to all who see it – a reminder that the gods and goddesses are with the people still, watching over them and keeping them safe from the horrors of the past.

Somewhere deep within the earth, a dark shape enters a cavern from a shadowy gate...

Unfortunately for the world, Evil never sleeps…

Yet hope remains, as long as there are Dragons!
