THE WAR OF CHAOS
The Lord of Chaos soon unleashed the horrid beasts that he had twisted upon the races that were still establishing themselves in the world.
The attack came as a sudden shock and complete surprise to the people that lived there as well as the gods and goddesses that were busy adapting to their new roles as caretakers of the races instead of builders and creators of the realms. In fact so many ages had gone by that many of the Children had actually let Nazu slip completely from their thoughts and memories, thinking he had long abandoned them in search of a solitary existence in the deep parts of the world.
Through the invisible gates and into the Under-realms the horrible twisted creatures poured. Up through the caverns and into the realms they issued forth, slashing and maiming and killing any living thing they encountered and wreaking destruction on the beautiful environments around them. The people and creatures of the world were not prepared to defend themselves in any way from the mad rush of terrible Daemons, and a great many were mercilessly killed by the murderous onslaught.
The Dragons were not so easily dealt with, however, and the gods themselves bestowed many of their mighty powers to the people to help turn the tide – thus the ability to wield Magick was instilled in the people of Elcriss, and the world would never be the same.
Through the peoples’ courage and newfound magical abilities acquired from the great self-sacrifice of the Children, the people of Elcriss gained the power to fight back against their enemies.
Eventually, through the valor of the people and the ferocity of the Dragons, the creatures of the Chaos Lord were driven back or destroyed. Though many escaped back into the tunnels of the Under-realms and some taken back into the Void, a great many simply went into hiding in the deep and wild places of the world, where they could wreak havoc on unfortunate victims that happened to pass by.
In this way were the first of the great injustices Nazu visited upon the world brought forth, and from this time the world ever after knew strife and sorrow and fear. Just as tragically, now people had learned violence and warfare, and though they were taught these things in order to defend themselves from destruction at the hands of the horrible creatures, the possibility that it could be wielded by one group of people onto another became a grave threat.
That he failed to utterly destroy the realms was of little matter to Nazu. In fact, in bringing violence to the world, he felt he had accomplished a great victory even in his perceived defeat.
